Mission Statement

Our Mission: We will build and operate high voltage transmission networks in accordance with the exacting standards of the Energy and Utility Boards to assure reliability and safety standards expected by the regulator, our customers, employees, and investment partners. The engagement of the Indigenous communities, as our largest shareholders, allows us to promote projects with a high degree of Indigenous support and involvement.

We will use this relationship as a key to build value for all our stakeholders.

Vision Statement

Our Vision: We will be the preferred transmission utility for newly commissioned transmission lines built on Indigenous territories. We will be the utility of choice for industrial projects that need dedicated commercial lines. Our Indigenous partners will drive us to be highly engaged with their communities for employment, business opportunities in our operations, and with those of our service providers.

Our Projects

Transmission Infrastructure Partnerships-1, our partnership with Taykwa Tagamou Nation, is a special purpose entity developing a 230kV transmission line. The project aims to supply the energy requirements for the Crawford Nickel mine.

The Crawford Nickel mine is developed by the Canada Nickel Company.

It is under a 25-year executed Transmission Services Agreement.

The Crawford Mine, scheduled for production in 2027, will be the world’s fourth-largest nickel development. Crawford’s nickel will be consumed by the metal-hungry battery storage market as it grows to meet electric vehicle demand.

Moreover, the mine will use an electric mining equipment fleet, so it will be the world's largest net zero carbon emissions mine.

Partnering With Utility Companies

Employing more than 9 000 personnel, Ameren powers the quality of life of people across a 165 000 km². It has over 2.4 million electric customers and more than 900 000 natural gas customers.

Ameren companies generate a net capacity of nearly 10 200 megawatts of electricity. They also own more than 12 000 circuit kilometers of transmission lines.

Become a Licensed Transmitter

TIP is licensed with the Ontario IESO as a Registered Organization and its affiliates are a licensed electricity transmitter.

TIP will form a unique partnership for each Indigenous community associated with one or more transmission project opportunities on their traditional land.

One such subsidiary, TIP-1 (with Taykwa Tagamou Nation), has received its electricity transmission licence with the Ontario Energy Board.

Overview of TIP’s Partnerships With Indigenous Communities

TIP has a portfolio of partnerships holding 14 separate transmission line opportunities across Eastern and Northern Canada. The total capital projected for these opportunities is an estimated $5+ billion, with TIP offering a path to a 100% equity stake for Indigenous communities. All these projects are in the early stages of development except for the Crawford Mine Transmission Project, which has entered permitting and financing.

This initial project is an investment opportunity in a significant transmission line.
